6th Grade Trip

Thank you to all the staff and parents who worked together to create a memorable 6th grade trip for our students. A special thanks goes to Heather McGann for being the lead teacher to organize the trip, for communicating with the families, for shopping for the groceries and for spending the time building relationships with your students. Thank you to Janna Webb and Kayla Moore for spending the night and for being there for the whole field trip. I would like to thank all the parents that hiked up for dinner, spent the day with the students, and who camped out with the students overnight. We appreciate Merck Forest for letting us stay at The Glenn and for helping us with some of the activities on Thursday. It took a team effort to make this field trip a success. Our students will always remember this overnight with their classmates, teachers, and parents!

Student Attendance

attend

All Absences and Early Dismissals should be communicated to the School either by phone or email.

Our school phone is 802-645-9009

All emails must include these three people:

  • Mrs. Chalmers-cchalmers@brsu.org

  • Mrs. O'Brien- lisa.obrien@brsu.org

  • your child’s classroom teacher.

This way if any staff member is absent we can be sure that the information gets to the appropriate people.

Please be sure to communicate with the school if your child is sick, has a doctor’s appointment, or cannot come to school by 8:30.  If your child is sick they will be marked as an excused absence.  If we do not hear from you by 8:30, your child will be marked as an unexcused absence.  Any unexcused absences will result in an automated phone call asking you to call the school.

If you are taking your child out of school for 2 days or more, a form from the office must be completed. This form is to request approval for personal and educational purposes to be identified as an excused absence.  We are requesting that you return this form no less than two weeks before the date that you want the absence to start.  This form was changed based on the conditions under which leave of absence for term-time travel may be granted in the Vermont Statutes Title 16 & 1123.  Permission will not be given after the absence has taken place. Please call the school if you have any questions about excused absence.

Bus Drivers

Unfortunately, due to difficulty in hiring (which all of us are experiencing), it may become necessary at some point to cancel a bus route.  If a driver is out sick, there is simply no one to drive that bus (the transportation and grounds directors are already driving daily routes!)  I hope that this does not happen, but thought it would be better to warn you in advance of the possibility!  I would like to promise you advance notice, but we all know that sickness does not come at convenient times.  Please think about alternate plans for your children’s transportation in the event that we need to cancel a bus route one day.  We will, of course, give you as much advance notice as possible, but it may be the morning of.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation, and I hope it does not happen!

If you know of anyone interested in driving the bus, please contact the school to let us know.
