Thank you to all the families who attended parent conferences in February. It was wonderful to see the incredible learning happening in our school. The teachers and students put a lot of effort into preparing for the students to lead the conferences. If you were unable to attend a conference before the break, please reach out to the classroom teachers to reschedule. It is important for you to hear about your child's progress and support their continued growth.

We appreciate your partnership in your child’s education!

I am sharing the spring state testing dates so you can plan accordingly and make sure your child is at school on these days. It can be challenging to schedule makeup tests for several students on separate days. Of course, if your child is sick, we do not want them to come to school. However, we kindly ask that families avoid scheduling trips or appointments on the following days.

The Vermont Science Assessment (VTSA) will take place on March 11th and 12th for our 5th graders. Students in grades 3-6 will take the VTCAP, which will be administered over two weeks. The first test, in English Language Arts, will be from March 24th-28th. The following week, students will test in Math from March 31st-April 4th.

The test is broken into small sessions each day to make it easier for the students. The students will not be testing all 4 days each week. We are creating a schedule so that the classes will keep their specials at the same time.  Based on this, classes will be testing on days they do not have a double special. Teachers will communicate the specific testing days for their classrooms.

Mettawee Early Education Program Announce their

Annual Developmental Screening

For 0-5 year olds

Thursday, March 6, 2025

 & Friday, March 7, 2025

At the Mettawee Community School

The Mettawee Community School will hold screening for young children on March 6th, 2025 and March 7th, 2025. The purpose of an early childhood screening is to provide parents with a picture of their child’s developmental strengths and/or needs and to increase awareness of services available to children and families in our area.

All children 0-5 years old, who are not currently enrolled in our preschool program, are encouraged to take part in the screening, regardless of potential eligibility for early education services.

Please call Lisa O’Brien at the Mettawee Community School,

802-645-9009, to schedule your child’s screening and to learn more about our Early Education Program.
